Takashi Sorimachi Returns in New GTO Live-Action Drama Series After 28 Years

The official website for Japanese TV station Kansai TV announced that a new live-action TV drama series inspired by Tooru Fujisawa's GTO ( Great Teacher Onizuka ) manga is set to premiere in Japan on July 20, 2026 . Takashi Sorimachi, who played the protagonist Eikichi Onizuka in the manga's first live-action drama series in 1998, is confirmed to reprise his role after 28 years.
